Volunteers Needed for MACMA Selangor

    Assalammualaikum.
MACMA Selangor is opening our arms to invite our fellow Chinese Muslim brothers and sisters to join us so that we can work better towards a common goal of dakwah and welfare to both Muslims and non-Muslims.

As is stated in Chapter 3 Surah Al Imran verse 103, the Quran says:

“And hold fast all together by the Rope (religion) which Allah (stretches out for you) and be not divided among yourselves, and remember with gratitude Allah’s favour on you, for you were enemies and he joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace you became brethren…”

Presently, MACMA SELANGOR has registered more than 400 members and now has its office at Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 1, Taman Usahawan, Kepong Utara, which is a strategic location for dakwah.

    Our Vision

MACMA would endeavor to bring forth Muslims in general and the Chinese Muslims in particular to become "Khairun Ummah" as defined by the Qur'an in order to build a unity through diversity society . To foster volunteerism spirit among members, uplift social , economy status and establish a learned and knowledgeable Islamic community .

    Our Mission

Our mission is to further promote the interests of our organization and our members to the community. We strive to make a difference by educating the public and expanding our reach.
Internally, MACMA is to effectively cater for the welfare of Chinese Muslims both materially and spiritually, and externally to act conscientiously and effectively as vehicle of communication with the predominant non-Muslim Malaysian Chinese population.

We have had conducted various programs and activities:

    Major annual programs such as:
    a. Gong Xi Fa Cai with non Muslims families and fellow Muslims.
    b. Happy Happy Hari Raya also with non Muslims families and fellow Muslims.
    c. MACMA Selangor Youth Camp 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012.
    d. Korban Idil Adha with fellow Muslims.

Besides that, among other activities or programs we have are:
    a. Visits and aids to muallafs in distress.
    b. We also are in collaboration with MERCY MADINAH CENTRE/ HOME to send to them our muallaf sisters who need temporary shelter.
    c. We help to distribute zakat among muallafs especially in the holy month of Ramadhan.
(please refer to full report in AGM report)

    MACMA financial source:
    a. MACMA receives between RM20 000 – 40 000 annually from Lembaga Zakat via MAIS.
    b. From time to time MACMA collaborates with MAIS / JAIS on some programs. If we initiate the programs with good working paper they may sponsor it.
    c. We also get strong support from Yayasan Rasma and assistance from other organizations.

    Our plans for the future:
    a. MACMA Selangor intends to establish a CHINESE ISLAMIC CULTURAL CENTRE (CICC) in Selangor.
    b. We have started KOPERASI MACMA Selangor – it is now in the process of approval by Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia. It is started with the noble aim for MACMA Selangor to be financially independent in future.

Areas of activities that need improvement:
    a. To organize regular Islamic classes for members and public in Mandarin and in English.
    b. To do more dakwah to fellow Chinese non Muslims. For this, we need more Mandarin and English educated daie’s who can deliver fully in Mandarin or English.
    c. To conduct Islamic classes at members’ homes for those unable to travel to attend classes by Pejabat Agama.
    d. Matchmaking for muallafs.
    e. Giving guidance and support to help muallafs to adapt themselves to their new lives after becoming Muslims.
    f. To engage in providing answers on some contemporary social-political issues so as to clear confusion created by politicians such as Hudud, LBGT, Non Muslims’ Rights in an Islamic State etc.
    g. Providing reference for Chinese Muslim confinement care services.

We need more dedicated people to help to run these activities. We hope more members will step forward to serve MACMA Selangor and develop this organization and make it a model of excellent ummah in Malaysia. May Allah S.W.T. bless us all. Amin ya rabbal alamin.

February Monthly Talk: What Is Religion?

CNY Open House by Restoran Mohd Chan

Assalammualaikum.
All are invited!

Report on 2011 MACMA CNY Open House

MACMA SELANGOR HAPPY HAPPY GONG XI FA CAI

Salam to all,

MACMA Selangor, in collaboration with Hidayah Centre and Ikram held a GONG XI FA CAI open house celebration at HJ SHARIN LOW RESTAURANT at Taman Sri Gombak on 28th Jan 2012. The event started at about 10.00 a.m. Chinese New Chinese New Song Year songs were played. Some of Maher Zain’s songs were also played.

Bro Farid from IKRAM and Bro Hj Kamal Koh were the masters of ceremonies.
Hj Sharin Low delivered a speech followed by the coordinator from IKRAM, Zun ‘Arif Hakim Abdul Rahman. Mr. Tony Pua, MP from Petaling Jaya made a special guest appearance. He was invited by Maj (B) WG Tan. Major Tan has been very helpful to MACMA Selangor since his return from the Philippines but sadly he will be returning to the Phillipines next month.

Our chairman, Hj Sharin Low said in his speech that being a Muslim, one does not need to discard one’s customs and tradition. Islam allows us to pursue our tradition and keep our family ties after we revert. Our prophet Muhammad S.A.W. has always tell his ummah to respect own parents and be filial children.
More than 500 guests attended the open house – consisting of different races and religion. Books and pamphlets were distributed freely. Oranges and angpaus were given away and the food were delicious. There was also a lucky draw and a clown making balloons for kids. The event ended at about 2.30 pm.

MACMA Selangor gratefully thank Al Hidayah and IKRAM for their gracious consent to help us hold this auspicious event. May we cooperate again next year. Amin ya rabbal alamin.

Are You A Chinese Muslim? We Need Your Details!

[caption id="attachment_541" align="aligncenter" width="550" caption="We Need Your Details!"][/caption]

If you are reading this, we have come to the right place!

But let us first introduce ourselves to you. We are like you, Malaysian Chinese who converted to Islam, or, as some would like to put it, reverts to Islam. The male figure at the top picture is me, Dr Yamin Cheng. The lady to the right of me is Nurlaily Yap. Nurlaily Yap is currently a committee member in MACMA, the acronym for Malaysian Chinese Muslims Association. She is serving in the committee of MACMA Malaysia, the umbrella MACMA organization in Malaysia, as well as in MACMA Selangor.

What about me? I am helping out Nurlaily in reaching out to people like you, people who not only come to Islam, but people who believe they can make a difference to our Malaysian society in the way we practise Islam. Nurlaily and I believe you are a special Muslim.

Do you believe you are a special Muslim? Do you think you can make a difference to our society?
Or are you just a convert who, after coming into Islam, only complains about the existing state of the Muslims?
Can you make a difference?
Do you want to make a difference?
Nurlaily told me that there are around 60,000 Chinese converts to Islam in Malaysia. 60,000?
Does this figure include the ones who have gone to heaven? If you are one of those still walking around on this earth, we would like you to give us some information about yourself.

We need to connect.
If you happened to be one of those who have gone to heaven, then don’t bother to reply.
Just let us know these things about yourself – your name, age, education, profession, and handphone number.

That’s all we want from you for now. Do you know of any convert who you would like them to join you in this mailing list?
Then pass this request to them and ask them to contact us.
You may send your brief biodata to Nurlaliy at nurlily45@yahoo.com, or to me at convertsforum@yahoo.com.
You will be hearing from us again.

Thank you and Gong Xi Fa Cai !
