MACMA Selangor Youth Camp

During the last schol holiday in August (22nd – 24thAugust 2008), MACMA held a Youth Camp in Kem Herba Sg Pangsun Hulu Langat.

It involved 20 school students (15 boys and 5 girls) mostly from SMJK Yu Hua, Kajang. Out of that, only 10 of the participants are Muslims.

There were 7 facilitators during the Youth Camp. They are Pn Noralina Ong, Nur Akmar, Yahya Ma, Fatin Nilisa, Iliham, Rukaiyah and Hamidah Ng. Pn Noralina Ong was the chief facilitator during the camp. Brother Yahya Ma, Sister Iliham and Sister Rukaiyah are from China currently studying in Malaysia. Sister Hamidah Ng is a representative from MAIS while Sister Nur Akmar and Sister Fatin Nilisa are from UiTM.

We departed from SMJK Yu Hua, Kajang at 9am on Friday 22/08/08 to Kem Herba Pangsun in Hulu Langat. Mr Danial Hakim gave his opening speech followed by Pn Noralina Ong and a brief self-introduction by the facilitators. No talks were arranged for the 1st day as the participants were still adjusting themselves.

The next morning, the participants attended the first talk. It was “Islam di China” by Mr Ma Li Wu. A Chinese who have been staying in Malaysia for a decade if I get my fact correct. Although the tile is in Malay, the talk was conducted fully in Chinese. This is due to the fact that this is an activity held by CHINESE Muslim community and it involved Chinese school students.

The next talk was on the same day, in the evening. It was “Budaya di China” by Sister Fatimah Suo. She is a Chinese from China studying in UIA, Gombak . The lingua franca for the camp was Mandarin so, needless to say, so does the talk.

The last talk was “Al-Quran dan Sains”, delivered by Dr Bai Zheng Gang. Dr Bai has been contributing a lot to MACMA and attend almost all activities held by MACMA.

During the camp, the participants had to cook their own lunch and dinner. Cutleries and raw food were provided. They only had to cook them. On the last day, a cooking competition was held. And surprisingly (or maybe not) a group of boys won the competition!

And, that is all for MACMA Youth Camp. Will post more about other MACMA activity soon. Thanks for visiting!
